Common questions
Getting Started
You can start with one project, but you will get more out of your access period with several. The value comes from what your team captures. More users and more projects means a clearer picture of the work in the field.
We are with you the whole way. Our team helps you get set up, answers questions, and makes sure you are in a position to decide what makes sense for your team.
Pricing
No account or project setup fees. Becoming a user in the OnStation App is quick.
For organizations, optional onboarding support can be included with your purchase. It covers:
- Getting your organization settings configured
- Importing users
- Turning on in-app trainings for your team
- Scheduling virtual training sessions
- Loading all your projects into the app
- Organizing tags, PLI, and user groups for cleaner data and easier filtering
It sets your team up so road crews spend less time figuring things out and more time capturing and sharing the info that matters.
We recommend credit card or ACH (electronic check). It is the easiest way to keep your organization active and avoid interruptions to your licenses.
We also accept mailed checks. Processing takes longer, which can delay access if a payment is missed.
Questions about payment? Our team can help you find the option that fits your setup.
OnStation licenses are purchased on an annual basis, and we are flexible. If a longer term fits your goals or your budgeting process better, we are happy to have that conversation and put something together.
The goal is to support your team in a way that fits how you operate, whether that is year to year or a longer commitment.
Yes. OnStation is built to grow with you, so you can change your plan whenever your needs change.
If you add licenses or features before your renewal date, we prorate the cost, so you only pay for what you actually use.
Our Customer Support team can answer questions along the way.
You can cancel your subscription renewal at any time. Your access to OnStation continues until the end of your current license term. We do not offer refunds for early cancellations.
Things change. Sometimes it is not the right time, or OnStation is not what you expected, and that is okay. Our team will make cancelling as simple as we can.
No. Storage is included.
From time to time. You might catch a deal during a holiday or a special promotion, and there are perks when users help spread the word.
Keep an eye on your inbox so you do not miss one.
We understand the off-season slowdown, but no, subscriptions cannot be paused. We already factored the seasonal nature of construction into OnStation pricing, so you are not paying full blast for the months you are not in the field.
OnStation is not only a warm-weather tool. During the off-season, teams use it for reporting, planning, budgeting, and project estimating. It is also a good time to clean up data, prep for next year, and look at features we have rolled out since (see what is new).
Your boots may be off the ground, but OnStation is still working for you.
User Access and Roles
Anyone on your team who is issued PPE (personal protective equipment) is a good starting point. More broadly, if someone needs to know where something is happening, see project details, or work with others on site, they will get value from OnStation.
We built OnStation with field crews in mind, boots on the ground first. Foreman, inspector, operator, or engineer, most people who step foot on a project can use quick access to stationing, maps, notes, and flags right from their phone.
In short: if they are on the project and need to stay informed, they should probably have the app.
Yes, if you want them to be. License owners have full control over how licenses are distributed, so you can assign one to a subcontractor, a DOT team member, or any other partner.
Our support team can set up your organization in a way that gives you complete oversight of who has access and what they can do within your projects.

One thing to know: anyone you add directly to your organization has elevated permissions tied to your account. To keep access more limited, have them stay under their own organization and link them to your projects instead. You keep visibility and collaboration without giving more access than needed.
Features and Use Cases
Contractors across the country, from small family-run subcontractors to large regional prime pavers, all the way up to some of the biggest publicly traded companies in the industry.
The platform is built to scale and already supports thousands of users on active jobsites every day. If you work in infrastructure, odds are someone in your network is already using OnStation.
Download the OnStation App, sign in or create an account, and use the "Nearby" tab on the home screen to see available projects in your area.
There are thousands of projects already in our database, so there is a good chance yours is ready to go.
Do not see your project? Submit it through the OnStation Data Portal and our engineering team will work with you to get it loaded into the app.
Pay Line Item (PLI) files, typically in XLE format, can be uploaded for any project through the OnStation Data Portal. Once added, crews in the field can tag activity in the app with specific item numbers, linking on-site work directly to what gets billed.
Set up PLIs and tags before the project starts. Your team captures accurate, real-time data that supports billing, documentation, and reporting from day one. With work items, flag tags, and user groups labeled correctly, the office gets exactly what it needs to close out faster and submit more accurate bills.
Fewer headaches, stronger documentation, and money delivered faster.
Getting started with tagging and labeling:
Yes. Mass-uploaded flags let you pre-load all the test points so they appear clearly on the map for your team in the field. It takes the guesswork out of their day.
Each flag can include detailed notes, tags, and the Find Route option, which is useful for inspectors who need directions to their first stop. Many CEI inspectors use it to move between test locations without getting turned around.
Once an inspector arrives at a flag, they can add inspection form information right in the app. If your team runs an integrated testing system, some of that data entry may already be handled.
With the right setup, location, test type, and documentation tags are ready to go, so inspectors focus on the work instead of figuring out where to go.
Not yet. OnStation does not support video uploads to Flags or Chats right now, but it is on our radar.
If this would be valuable to you, tell us. The more interest we hear, the higher it moves on the development roadmap. We build from real feedback out of the field.
Data and Usage
Exporting is done through the OnStation Data Portal. Project managers can export flags, forms, photos, and more at any time.
- Log into the OnStation Data Portal.
- Select the project you want to export data from.
- Choose the type of data (flags, forms).
- Apply filters if needed (tags, date ranges, user groups).
- Export in the format that fits your needs (CSV, PDF, KML, SHP).
Most DOT spec books currently require high-precision rover devices for certain measurements, which means digital stationing alone may not meet every accuracy standard for official acceptance.
Digital stationing still offers real operational benefits, from faster documentation and easier coordination to better data organization, which can save your team time and money depending on your workflow.
We are actively working with DOTs across the U.S. to support broader adoption of digital stationing at the state level.
Connectivity
No signal, no problem. OnStation has offline functionality built right in. Download your project files ahead of time when you have service and you can still access live stationing when you are off the grid.
Whether you are in the middle of nowhere or just that one dead zone on the jobsite, you will not be lost.
